Hi there,
My name is Brandon Intelligator, I'm a 23 year old guitarist based out of Los Angeles. I've spent the better portion of my life worshipping music and generally living under the credo: "There are only two kinds of music - Good and Bad." This truism has been credited to the likes of Duke Ellington and Richard Strauss but regardless of its origin, within its jurisdiction I have been able to achieve a chameleonic presence as a musician.
Essentially, as a guitar player for the last 13 years, I'm equally comfortable with Bebop as I am with Hardcore and everything in between. Through high school I studied technique, theory and ear training with David Ferguson and Ron Anthony. In addition, the countless hours spent with the masters--Jimi Hendrix, John McLaughlin, Tony Rice, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eddie Van Halen and Joe Pass amongst others--helped leave an indelible footprint on my style.
As a music student at New York University, my infatuation with versatility deepened as I explored the aggressive noise of The Birthday Party and Sonic Youth as well as the stoic mastery of John Coltrane, Miles Davis and Wayne Shorter--all of whom shared a penchant for teetering between the mainstream and the avant-garde. I studied with Mordy Ferber, Bruce Arnold and Pat Cerello in addition to attending numerous master classes with legendary guitarists John Scofield and Jim Hall.
I've been lucky enough to perform in so many genres at this stage in my life including jazz, blues, fusion, bluegrass, punk, metal, funk and hip-hop, and I feel they are only a fraction of what the world of music has to offer. I'm always ready to play and well-experienced with the gigging circuit as I am with songwriting and studio work. In the end, I think my sound could be described as Allan Holdsworth being attacked by Thurston Moore and J Mascis while Frank Zappa watched.
